It was in 1985 Elcardo Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. enter into the Market arena of Sri Lanka. Though we started in a simple manner, today we have grown up to be one of the important contributors to the Growth of Sri Lanka's economy.
We were the first to introduce completely Sri Lankan made Automobile Crash Bars to the market.
We were the first to manufacture Stainless Steel Silencers from then on; we started to raise our standards. Then we moved into the production, repair and Installation of Automobile Silencers using with stainless steel and mild steel.
Simultaneously did research on many new projects. Thus we launched ourselves into the new arena of importing of Exclusive Automobile Accessories from world rewoven companies (Specifically for 4 Wheel Driven Pickups and Double Cabs). We term these accessories as ‘Exclusive Automobile Accessories', as those accessories we import are very seldom available at any other Company. Today we are the Major Importers for such Accessories Canopies, Hood racks, Fender Flares, Weather Guards, Crystal Lights, Sports Bars, Self Recovery Winches, Side Steps, Wheel Covers, etc….etc….
With our high quality service we have archived the target of providing our services to the most prestigious organizations who are engaged in the Auto mobile import sector in Sri Lanka.
Then we aimed on Rollers Shutters and Roller doors. So we started manufacturing them using raw material from Japan, Taiwan and Australia. The technology employed is respectively from Taiwan and Australia. Today we have excelled in this field, to the extent of manufacturing the individual accessories ourselves. In early 1980’s, present Managing Director of Elcardo Industries, Mr Athula Rohan Weerartne as an young energetic person with moderate thinking took his first step to manufacture the first ever locally made ‘Crash Bar’ for auto mobile jeeps. Then he moved on to produce mild steel and stainless steel Exhaust lines and exhaust line accessories for all type of auto vehicles. Elcardo was the Pioneer to manufacture Exhaust line and its accessories using stainless steel.
In 1985 Elcardo name was legally registered as a business industry and thereafter in no time the Elcardo name became very popular among the auto mobile users Islandwide.
In 1995 Elcardo made studies on many new projects and were confident and competent enough to venture into new areas. Thus in1995 Elcardo launched into the new area of bringing down Exclusive Automobile Accessories (Specially made for 4 wheel driven Luxury vehicles) from abroad. Thereafter they began to manufacture entire roller shutter accessories with using of state of art machineries that imported from reputed companies abroad.

In 1997 Elcardo Industries (Pvt) Ltd was incorporated under the companies’ act no 17 of 1982 and Simultaneously Elcardo did a research on Roller Doors and found hardly any one manufacturing same locally to meet the international standard. As per the decision made by Mr. Weerarathne, Elcardo brought down the whole range of state of Art Machineries from reputed Engineering Countries and a new factory was established, the required raw materials were imported from Australia, Japan, and Elcardo became the pioneer company to fabricate Roller Doors with using of Australian technology. Today thousand of houses, offices, car sheds and lot more are adorned with high quality powder coated zinc alum Roller doors manufactured by Elcardo. Since these doors are manufactured with Australian technology the doors are confirm to international standard.
Elcardo has carved their name in the stainless steel industry too. They have fabricated stainless steel railings, display racks, and many other structures for many prestigious companies in Sri Lanka. Also they fabricate kitchen pantry cupboards and relevant equipments using with high standard stainless steel tubes and sheets and their services being obtained by most of the Star Hotels, Hospitals and private sector clients.

Elcardo took part to exhibit these new products at the INCO Exhibition held on 25th to 27th of June 2010 at BMICH and was selected by an independent jury as the “Overall Best Exhibitor” and the Award was presented by Hon Minister for Science and Technology Prof: Tissa Witharana.
